Unplanned

The coming week is the ending of this semester. Happy I am, because I really need this break to re-whine and come again. For the past eight weeks I wasn't feeling 100% myself, which had placed me in a position to have missed a few days of my classes, which didn't happen in past semesters. When the vicissitude of life comes at you with challenges some are difficult to comprehend and to solve, but giving up is not an option. These moments in time are when you sit back, take deep breaths, and relax in solving and re-energize yourself.

Literary Imagery

Literary Women

This week as we read the poems written by women, us women can relate to them in different ways and be inspired, as they come from a woman's point of view. As you indulge into literary poems they allow you to connect with your five senses. Not all are able to immediately figure them out, but we can put our own little twist to writing our understanding. Thanks to all the women who have set the pace for all of us women.

On the Subway

In reading the poem "On the Subway" in lines 18-20 states he is in my power, the way I am living off his life, eating the steak he does not eat reflects power and privileged. Lines 21-22 states he is black and I am white suggest racial segregation. In lines 29-33 states this life he could take so easily and break across his knee like a stick the way his own back is being broken refers to in the time of slavery, the master would beat the slaves with whips over their backs until their skins are open and rich blood running down.

Symbolism

The cross is an important symbol in my life. It represents life, freedom, the blood that Christ gave for me, so I shall live.

Word Power

In watching the short lecture "An Introduction To Drama", I have added four new words to my ever expanding vocabulary. The words are: Protagonist- who solves the conflict, monologue- a long speech by one character, soliloquy- speech given by a character alone on the stage, and aside- statement make to the audience, but the other character aren't suppose to here it. One word per day increases one's word power.

"Trifles"

I think the theme for the play "Trifles" is revenge. After Mrs.Wright found her sweet, pretty, and fluttery bird dead, she became outraged and took all that anger she had boiling up inside, and kill her husband. Maybe he was verbally, physically, and/or mentally abusive to her. These could be one of her motive and after finding her dead canary was the last straw that breaks the camel's back.

A Lot on My Plate

So, here I am overwhelmed. I decided to do four classes this semester, working a full time job and taking care of my family at the same time. I didn't really know how much four classes would consume me entirely until now. I'm so tried in the evenings after work, I barely have room for myself to relax. I know I can do it, but it 's taking a toll on my overall being. What was I thinking?

Plot

You may not know the actor or actress of the character been played, but a good plot will keep the audience in suspense, and a need to know what will be happening next in the scene.

A Parent Point of view

We are living in a society where parental rights has been slowly ripping away from under us one pull at a time, by our lawmakers, who are enacting laws that allow our young daughters, at a earlier age to have access to the morning after pill, without a prescription, not to mention without parental consent.
Do they consider that these children are still babies? You can still smell the similac on their breaths from afar. Have they thought of the medication side effects and how it will affect their developing bodies. Have they thought of the long term effects of the entire family unit? Who will be paying for this medication? Is it the parents or the tax payers? The morning after pill (one tablet) cost $43.00-$55.00 depending on where you go. I'm applaud.

The Things I Carried

The things I carried, my pocketbook that is filled with lots of junk that at times weighs heavily on my shoulders, inside are consumed with many things, some credit cards, a check book and a few dollars just in case or perhaps for some shopping along with other unnamed things. But this cannot outweighs the missing piece of my child being away from home, is one of the main things I carried,   I wonder how he's doing, I prayed that he's O.K., and hope that he makes the right decisions as he goes through the journey of his chosen career. I'm proud to be the mother of a sailor. The safety of my children is a great deal to me.

Every Where Is War

Every time you listen to the news, you hear of war somewhere, in a foreign  country or at home.Brothers fighting against brothers, sisters fighting against sisters. War don't just happen, it started in our hearts. Where is the love? The love for our brothers and sisters, did it jumped out the window while driving on the highway or did it went for a long walk. We are our brothers/sisters keeper, I  look out for you and you for me. In today's world, being a brothers/sisters keeper has become a distance past. Love each other and pass it on.

A Worn Path

Just as I started to read this story, I knew how I could really elaborate on  it. As I continue to read into the story I realize that Ms.Phoenix Jackson wasn't as mentally competent as her earlier years.Dementia or Alzheimer's have been a big concern among care givers, who takes care of there elderly love ones. Imagine what Phoenix Jackson went through, walking and talking to herself, drinking out of an unclean stream of water, etc. Due to my profession I have a firsthand experience with this disease and how it affects the entire family.Did you see what I get from reading this story?

Writing in Style

Reading these stories from our textbook, you see the differences in diction and syntax. However, trying to put your understanding is very extensive ,we should all be able to critical read by the end of ENG 1002. I like the story of "Mr. Pirzada Came To Dine" and "My Two Lives."

Imagination @ work

Literature is our imagination at work that is bought to life in stories, songs, letters, poems, etc. Writing in your journal maybe thoughts of your imagination or personal experience that may later become a literary piece of history. Literature crosses many threshold in communication barriers that make you smile at how a thought can be place in different terms, according to our imagination.  Continue to write and explore your artistic side in writing, my friends. Keep topping your fingers away on the net.Writing is our imagination at work.

Literature

Over the weekend, I read three of the stories for ENG1002 literature .I actually feel asleep over them. I don't know if I was that tried or if I was bored with reading the stories, while trying to figure out my approach to start my writing process on which ever one I choose.
I have been reading a lot, especially on A & P 1 and Lab.

My two lives

I read the nonfiction story "My two lives" written by Jhumpa Lahiri, and I can relate to this story profoundly with the exception that my parents not being in America. This story really it close to home and that I'm now in the same boat with my kids. I'm sure most of in us in class are immigrants and may also relate.
